Im thinking about getting a home soon, what score should I be aiming for on my credit?

Asked by Tom.miller484, Houston, TX Mon Mar 20, 2017

I've had a lot of negative marks on my credit due to collections and I'm trying to work on my credit right now. Found a good company, and my score has recently gone from 595 to about 678... what score would be good for me to aim for if I'm looking to buy a new home?

I'm a first time home buyer and I can only put down about 5% based on the area that I'm looking to buy in.

Hello, I'm a mortgage professional.

Based on the scores you listed you would qualify for a mortgage that only requires 3.5% down payment. You can even roll closing costs into the loan.

I can explain more.

If you have any other questions or would like help with this you are welcome to get in touch with me.
