Emily Riley answered:
The Clarendon neighborhood has numerous apartment buildings that have 2-bedroom units and are pet friendly. Clarendon is on the orange and silver metro lines, has a Whole Foods, plenty of coffee shops, and lots of other shopping and restaurants. Just be aware that you pay for having all of this minutes from your door - most two bedroom units in this area are $3,000+ per month, with additional fees for pets and if you want to park a car. Neighborhoods around Clarendon (Virginia Square, Courthouse, Ballston) may be slightly less expensive, but you'll be 10-15 minutes walk from most restaurants and shopping, although there are metro stops in each of these neighborhoods. ... more

Most 2 bedrooms in Arlington will start around $1600.

You may be able to find a few for less. Be sure to check out Dominion Towers and Park @ Arlington Ridge.

But in Arlington, $1100 for 2 bedrooms just do not exist.

Good luck!

Hello Matt,

That is a good question. However, it is not easily answered. A lawyer would be the only one to be able to discuss the legal ramifications to any questions such as this.

There are no 2 bedrooms of this description in Ft. Myer available as of today. However if you are interested in a 1 bedroom that allows pets, I know of one coming available soon for $1,125 plus electric that averages 50.00, which is a steal in that area where many homes are 1 million and up. Contact me if interested.

Sorry, we don't handle sublets. Your best bet is utilizing your own personal network and craigslist (although please be careful as there are a lot of scammers out there.)

Good luck with your search!

Hi..I've been a DC area resident for over 30 years. If your daughter is going to be at Georgetown University.. in DC.. she may want to consider a rental in Arlington. Georgetown U , has buses that run from Rosslyn to campus .. so she'd have transportation.
While her budget is not large, if she can find a roomate through her school- they could easily rent a good place in Arlington from Avalon Bay / Archstone - or one of the many other rental communities and split the rent .

Arlington is a great place for ' Georgetown U' Students.. who want a bit more ' green' space.
But the key is you may have to sign for her lease.. as guarantor.. if she hasn't established credit yet on her own. Good luck.. and oh.. be WARY of Craig's list ads that seem like really good deals. They are often scams.. and they prey on ' out of town' folks who think they found something no one else did.

I've seen Harvard Grads get duped by these scams.. and I've reported many to the FBI.
Best to find a reliable building for her.

You'll rest easier!

Christina Hayes answered:
Read your lease very very carefully. What does it say about persons not listed on the lease... Since your agreement was verbal you could type up a letter stating that the landlord agreed verbally on such and such date, however our court system relies on the burden of proof. Has your landlord requested this money verbally or in writing? If in writing you should reply in writing via CMRR reminding him or her of your verbal agreement. If the requests for added rent was made verbally I would still mention in a nice letter the verbal agreement that was made. This way you have begun a proper legal paper trail in case it gets nasty between you and your landlord.

Have a great day;
