You can get the best deals on real estate in Lower Manhattan and Midtown on the East Side. I live and work in Battery Park City and see properties and look at values everyday. If you finance over 30 years and get a one bedroom for between $500,000-$600,000, you can cover your expenses and earn some passive income, too, with rental income. I have investment property in the area and it's got a built-in market of renters, who often relocate from other parts of the world to work in the area.
