Simple answer from the financial point of view:
Because there are so few co-ops in CT, there are very few lenders willing to finance you. If you are considering a co-op, be sure to do your homework very carefully. Get your financing lined up, including telling your lender exactly which complex you like. Make sure your lender will finance that complex.

There are several condos in downtown Stamford which have washer/dryer in the unit.
It just happens that most, if not all, of the condos without their own washer/dryer will have heat & hot water included in the monthly common charges. They are often heated by a central boiler/furnace in the building. If the condo association in these buildings permitted everyone to install a separate washer/dryer it would most likely overwhelm the plumbing and then you could have major problems going forward.
Hope this hasn't confused you!
As far as I know there is one complex in Norwalk that has washer/dryer in the unit and also has heat and hot water included in the common charges.
After 25 years of real estate, I cannot think of a complex in Stamford that has those features.
