Lisa, Other/Just Looking in

My husband and I would like to know which community in the Myrtle Beach area would be best to permanently relocate to from CT?

Asked by Lisa, Fri Dec 9, 2011

We have vacationed several times (off season) and always stayed in Barefoot Resort. We absolutely love the area and the weather. We would appreciate any advice as to what the best areas would be to look to relocate to. We love the beach, restaurants, shopping and shows but not all the hustle and bustle. Please let us know what communities might suit us for regular beach life without all the tourists. Thank you so much for your expertise.

If you really want out of the hustle/bustle, to have less crowded beaches, all the tourist driven amenities minutes away, and great living conditions the north end is the place to be. Consider Little River, Longs, and especially across the line into NC. Did you know there are only 2 high rises on the Brunswick County beaches?

Based on our description I would suggest the South end including Surfside, Garden City, Murrells Inlet, Pawleys and Litchfield. Now if I know the price range you prefer and your contact info I can provide you with the perfect community.

THERE ARE LOTS OF GREAT OPTIONS AND IT JUST DEPENDS ON THE TYPE LIFSTYLE YOU ARE INTERESTED IN. MYRTLE BEACH, NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, AND THE SOUTH END INCLUDING SURFSIDE BEACH, GARDEN CITY BEACH AND MURRELLS INLET OFFER A MORE QUITE LIFESTYLE. FURTHER SOUTH TO LITCHFIELD AND PAWLEYS ISLAND IS EVEN MORE QUITE BUT A LITTLE FURTHER FROM THE ACTION. LET ME KNOW IF YOU LIKE GOLF OR THE BEACH OR PEACE AND QUITE OR CONVENIENCE TO EVERYTHING AND I CAN OFFER THE PERFECT COMMUNITIES. ALSO IF YOU PREFER A SUBDIVISION WITH POOLS OR GOLF OR LAKES WE CAN SUGGEST COMMUNITES THAT ARE PERFECT FOR YOU. JUST LET ME KNOW MORE SPECIFICS ABOUT YOUR LIFESTYLE AND WE'RE OFF AND RUNNING.

If you like the traffic and crowds about anywhere in N MB would be OK. Those places are more for tourists than those that live there. If you want a great place to LIVE and still be near the beach, shopping, and golf- just cross the line into Calabash, Sunset Beach, or Ocean Isle Beach. Shallotte has the small town feel too.

We moved from Chicago to Wilmington, NC. Best kept secret in the SE. Weather no different than MB, fewer tourists and wonderful beaches, University town, the arts, great restaurants and besides the sales tax here is significantly lower than MB.

Most of my buyers end up in the area they have vacationed in for years because they know the area and it already feels like home. A good Realtor can show you how to avoid the hustle and bustle.

Hi Lisa, We have owned property in the south end of Myrtle Beach, North Myrtle and Little River.. If you like the beach, I would consider Tighlman Estates. If you want the waterway I would consider Paradise Island...wonderful safe quiet gated and very low HOA (500 yr). There are only a few homes on the island . There are a few lots for sale if you want to build and a few homes for sale. There are lots of restaurants close by and traffic is much lighter Both North Myrtle and Little River are close to the 31 and 22 bypasses. homeowner in Paradise Island

Hi Lisa,

My associates have given you good information. The bottom line really has to do with a two variables - price and features. The 60 mile "Grand Strand" offers so many fabulous communities that offer peaceful living all year long that selecting the best area for you involves getting to know you and your needs and wants for your new home and community and then matching you up with the ones that offer the benefits you want in your price range. I'd also suggest avoiding communities that allow short term or vacation rentals.

When you are ready, I'd like to apply for the job of matching you with your ideal home and community near the beach but away from the hustle and bustle.

The barefoot resort area is on the north end of myrtle. If you like that part of Myrtle you would want to consider Plantation Point as well as Grand Dunes....There are at least 7 nice communities in that vacinity. Will be more than happy to send you some homes if you will give me your pricing criteria.

You will get lots of replies and the true answer is that it depends on what type lifestyle you are interested in. South end around Murrells Inlet, Litchfield, Pawleys Island and Surfside beach would be excellent choices. South end is not as touristy and lots of nice shopping and convenient to everything Myrtle Beach has to offer.
There are at least 8 communities on the South end that would be excellent for full time living. If you will respond with some of your criteria I will be glad to put you on auto nitification and send you some of the good prperties. Just need your price range and any other specifics about what you are would like to have in a house, size, bedrooms, etc .etc..
Look forward to hearing bac from you. dkingsmore@kw.com or 843 421 8218

Hello Lisa:

The south end of Myrtle Beach is far enough away from the tourists but close enough to everything that Myrtle Beach has to offer. We have the Marsh Walk, Huntington State Park and Brookgreen Gardens which are places that you don't want to miss visiting. Murrells Inlet, Surfside Beach, Garden City Beach, Litchfield Beach and Pawleys Island are the towns the make up the south end of the Grand Strand. I have lived in Murrells Inlet for 6 years and I highly recommend the area. Depending on your price range there are plenty of great communities that will meet your criteria. Give me a call or send me an email when you get a moment and I will send off some homes for you to take a look at. You can visit my website at http://www.MyrtleBeachHomes4U.net. Have a great weekend!

There is only one answer to your question, move north to Sunset Beach or Ocean Isle Beach NC. Many people arrive there being in SC. All the benefits of MB without the drawbacks. Only 5 minutes to the SC line and much more pleasant to live there. Those beaches are the best kept secrete around. I arrived 1st in North Myrtle to be out of the Myrtle mess, then onto a golf course in Little River to get quieter but then realized there were many benefits to living across the line and no drawbacks. I'm a licensed broker in BOTH Carolinas and can provide assistance in both. I live in OIB and the office is in Little River, diversified and experienced!
