Why in the world would a bank buy back a house at the foreclosure auction for $511,651 when the average price of comparable homes in the neighborhood?

The winning bid amount was the posted debt on the property. The posted debt is the original loan plus any defaulted payments to include taxes and insurance. So in a nutshell you owed 511,651 and the bank took the property back on their books for what you owed, - Tue Mar 13, 2012
