Be respectful and considerate of others at all times
The Trulia community is comprised of many members who may have vastly different experiences and perspectives. Disagreements and debates are acceptable, and even encouraged, so long as the discourse is civil and doesn’t include ad hominem arguments. Insults or belittling comments are not permitted under any circumstances.
Likewise, venting, ranting, hateful discussions or attempts to damage the reputation of those inside or outside the community are inappropriate. We respect everyone’s right to free speech but will not tolerate harassment.
Make a positive impact by sharing your knowledge and opinions with others and strive to post highly informative and useful content.
Answering questions with a mere “Yes” or “No” or with responses like “Ask a real estate professional” or “Contact me for assistance” is generally unhelpful. We discourage such responses and encourage you to address questions directly and in as much detail as possible.
Pay attention to the locations associated with questions as well. Your expertise in one market may be irrelevant, or perhaps even contrary to accepted standards in another market.
Make sure you also complete your Trulia profile to share your relevant personal information with the community as this will add more credibility to the content you share. Real estate professionals are encouraged to list their education, prior experience, and testimonials, and to think of their Trulia profile as an online resume.
Encourage quality content from others
When you see informative or high-quality content from other community members, give it a Thumbs Up vote, and be sure to recognize the most useful and enlightening answer to your question with the designation of Best Answer.
When you see content that is inappropriate or spam, please click on the ‘report’ link and tell us about it.
Use the correct format
The Q&A section is reserved strictly for questions and answers, and questions should be posted in the form of a question – e.g. Is it recommended that I get a home inspection before I put my home on the market?
Community members who wish to share their knowledge with others rather than ask questions can do so by Answering Questions, Blogging, or Reviewing an Area. When Reviewing an Area, please keep the reviews relevant by focusing on the surrounding area or neighborhood
Trulia may remove content that is improperly formatted.
Don’t violate copyright
You may not post content that infringes upon or violates any copyright, trademark, patent, trade secret, publicity, privacy or other intellectual property or other right, unless you are the owner of such rights or have permission from their rightful owner to post the material.
If you quote an existing article, make sure you have the full right and authority to do so and be sure to give credit to the author and provide a link back to the full article. We provide the “Web Reference” field in the answer form and encourage you to use it. Likewise, bloggers can include hyperlinks within their posts to reference such quotes.
Trulia does not evaluate or guarantee the accuracy of any Trulia Voices content.

Any and all forms of “spam”, including advertisements and solicitations, will be removed and Trulia may deactivate accounts that are engaged in such activities at any time.
Trulia reserves the right to post informative content about Trulia.com products, listings, features and events.
Don’t post offensive content
This includes content that:
- is intended to exploit, solicit or harm minors
- is violent, racist, incendiary, or otherwise objectionable
- contains profane, obscene, vulgar or sexually explicit language
- glorifies self-harm, suicide, anorexia, bulimia, or any other practice that is clearly unhealthy or harmful
- includes link to photos, drawings, videos or other materials that are obscene or that contain nudity, violence or any other images that are not suitable for a real estate community
Don’t violate the law
Do not post content that violates federal, state or local law, including but not limited to Federal (applicable to everyone and all jurisdictions), State or local Fair Housing Laws which prohibit any discrimination in the provision of housing based upon race, color, national origin, creed, religion, physical or mental handicap, ancestry, age, marital status and familial status.
Many consumers are not aware of Fair Housing regulations that Real Estate professionals must adhere to. Therefore it is up to the Real Estate professionals using Trulia to ensure that they do not violate any Fair Housing rules or regulations. Trulia is not responsible for any law violations, however if such an incident comes to our attention we maintain the right to remove the associated content at any time.
Do not post false or misleading information or falsely state, impersonate, or otherwise misrepresent your identity, your current or previous positions and qualifications, or your affiliations with a person or entity, past or present.
Don’t share others’ personal information
Do not post others’ personal information unless you have their consent to do so. This includes address and contact information.
You should be cautious about sharing your own personal information as well. We recommend that you do not share your personal, private information, such as social security number, with any member. If you wish to engage in a real life business relationship with any Trulia member, we highly recommend that you do some research and meet this member in person before you take any action.
Each individual can only have one profile and account. Members who use different profiles to ask and answer their own questions or otherwise disturb the community risk having their accounts deactivated.
Thumbs up, first answer and best answer, are meant to reward members for sharing questions and answers and help distinguish high quality content. You may not post filler answers to a question in an effort to be first to answer, or re-post previously posted content. Trulia reserves the right to remove such content and deactivate accounts that are engaged in such activities at any time.
Trulia reserves the right to remove or edit any content for any reason, at any time without notice. Likewise, Trulia may, for any reason and at any time, deactivate any user’s account and restrict that user’s access to the site.
